Mumbai water stock reaches 88.81 per cent as seven lakes hit 12.85 lakh ML

Water stock across the seven reservoirs that supply drinking water to Mumbai reached 88.81 per cent of their combined live storage capacity on Tuesday morning, July 28. According to an official measurement report released at 6 am by the Hydraulic Engineer's Department at Bhandup Complex, the city's lake reservoirs currently hold a cumulative total of 12,85,449 million litres (ML) of water. This total is drawn from a maximum live storage capacity of 14,47,363 ML across the entire seven-reservoir system.

The report issued by the Bhandup Complex office provided a specific breakdown of water stock levels for each individual reservoir in the supply network. Modak Sagar reservoir remains completely full, sitting at 100 per cent of its storage capacity. At the same time, Vihar lake and Tulsi lake continue to overflow.

High storage levels were also recorded across the remaining four lakes in the supply system. Tansa reservoir is operating near full capacity, reaching 99.02 per cent. Middle Vaitarna has filled to 90.30 per cent of its live storage capacity, according to the morning data.

The largest reservoirs also reported substantial water levels in the early morning update. Bhatsa reservoir recorded a stock level of 87.36 per cent capacity. Upper Vaitarna currently stands at 77.51 per cent capacity, which is the figure recorded among the seven reservoirs mentioned in the report.

In total, the reservoirs hold 12,85,449 ML out of the total 14,47,363 ML capacity, placing overall lake levels at 88.81 per cent as reported by the Hydraulic Engineer's Department on July 28.
