Oil Tanker Overturns and Catches Fire Near Mumbai-Pune Expressway in Khalapur

A crude oil tanker overturned and triggered a massive fire near the Mumbai–Pune Expressway in Khalapur, leading to temporary traffic disruptions on the route. No injuries have been reported from the incident.
According to preliminary reports, the tanker suffered an alleged brake failure while in transit. The mechanical malfunction caused the vehicle to lose control and overturn along the stretch, subsequently catching fire and emitting thick clouds of black smoke.
Emergency response teams and personnel from the Khopoli fire brigade rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the alert. The tanker driver was safely rescued from the vehicle, and fire brigade personnel launched an operation to douse the blaze, eventually bringing the fire under control.
The tanker sustained significant damage in the incident. Visuals from the scene showed emergency personnel actively working at the location to clear the area and ensure safety.
Traffic movement along the affected stretch of the expressway was temporarily halted and disrupted as emergency services managed the situation. Vehicular movement was later restored and resumed across two lanes after the blaze was subdued.
