Panvel Civic Body Conducts Anti-Encroachment Drive at Market Yard, Seizes Handcarts

The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) carried out an anti-encroachment drive against unauthorised businesses and handcart operators in the Panvel Market Yard area on August 31, civic officials announced on Tuesday.

The civic action was undertaken following instructions from Municipal Commissioner Mangesh Chitale to clear encroachments that were creating persistent difficulties for vehicular traffic and pedestrians moving through the busy market area.

During the drive, civic officials seized seven handcarts operating without authorisation. In addition to the seizures, the municipal team took demolition action against five handcarts and cleared them entirely from the locality.

The municipal administration initiated the measures to ensure unobstructed movement on roads and footpaths across the Market Yard precinct.
