Pet Dog Rocky Survives Leopard Attack at Murbad Farmhouse in Thane
A pet dog named Rocky survived an attack by a leopard after fiercely fighting back for five to seven minutes at a farmhouse in Sakhare village, located in Thane district's Murbad taluka. The dramatic encounter, which was recorded on security cameras installed at the property, took place at around 7:00 PM on Monday.
According to available information, the farmhouse belongs to Vijay Patil, brother of former Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) MLA Raju Patil. The leopard suddenly entered the farmhouse premises in the evening, spotted Rocky, and launched an attack. Rather than retreating, the dog stood his ground and engaged in an intense confrontation in an apparent fight for survival.
CCTV footage installed at the farmhouse captured the entire incident as the two animals remained locked in a prolonged struggle. The recording shows Rocky actively resisting the predator's assault, and the dog is believed to have grabbed hold of the leopard's jaw during the fierce exchange.
The leopard repeatedly attempted to overpower Rocky using its sharp claws, while the dog kept resisting without backing down. Following several minutes of the dangerous struggle, Rocky was eventually forced to release his grip after repeated attacks from the wild animal. However, the dog's fierce resistance caused the big cat to break off the attack, retreat, and eventually leave the farmhouse premises.
Rocky survived the unexpected encounter, and his fight for survival quickly became a major talking point across the area. The CCTV footage of the confrontation has since been widely shared on social media, with numerous viewers praising the pet dog's courage and determination in warding off the predator.
The leopard's entry into the farmhouse has triggered widespread concern among residents of Sakhare village and nearby areas regarding the presence of wild animals close to farmhouses and residential localities. The incident has once again highlighted growing anxieties over increasing wildlife movement near human settlements in the region.
Locals noted that the movement of wild animals in and around inhabited areas, particularly during the evening and night, has made heightened vigilance necessary. Following the incident, residents have been urged to remain cautious after dark and avoid venturing out alone unnecessarily.
