Plaster Collapses at 30-Year-Old Nadkar Complex in Tanwar Nagar, Mumbra

Panic gripped residents in the Tanwar Nagar locality of Kausa, Mumbra in Thane district after plaster from a 30-year-old building suddenly collapsed on Tuesday evening, August 18. Although no casualties or injuries were reported in the mishap, the sudden incident triggered widespread alarm and raised serious safety concerns for nearly 100 residents living on the premises.
The structural incident occurred at Nadkar Complex, a ground-plus-four-storey building located opposite Eden Park in Tanwar Nagar. The mixed-use structure houses 17 residential flats and 14 commercial shops.
Following the plaster collapse, an inspection of the premises revealed visible cracks running across the building's walls and supporting columns. The damage has left multiple other portions of the four-storey structure in a precarious condition, adding to the anxiety of the residents and shopkeepers.
Upon receiving information about the collapse, engineers from the civic construction department alongside staff from the Mumbra Ward Committee Disaster Management Cell rushed to the spot with a pickup vehicle to examine the situation and assess the extent of the damage. Authorities confirmed that no one was injured during the occurrence.
Civic officials noted that the 30-year-old structure is classified under the C-3 category. This official classification defines it as a building requiring minor structural repairs while remaining occupied by residents and shop owners.
Following the assessment, the Thane Municipal Corporation issued official notices instructing the property owners to execute immediate structural repairs to stabilize the premises. Further necessary action and oversight regarding the building will be handled by the Mumbra Ward Committee in coordination with the municipal construction department.
