Pradhan Resignation Turns Shivaji Park Tiranga March Into Celebratory Rally

Thousands of supporters packed Shivaji Park and gathered along Swatantryaveer Sawarkar Road in Mumbai on Sunday, July 26, 2026, after a planned 'Tiranga March' transformed into a celebratory rally following the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The demonstration was originally scheduled as a protest march led by the Cockroach Janta Party, with the stepping down of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan standing as one of the central demands of the protest. After Pradhan resigned from his post, the nature of the event shifted into a celebratory gathering, drawing people from all over the city to Shivaji Park by 10:00 AM.

Political leaders addressed the thousands of supporters from a central stage set up for the rally. Speakers included Uddhav Thackeray, Raj Thackeray, and Aaditya Thackeray. While addressing the crowd, Raj Thackeray paid tribute to NEET aspirants who allegedly died by suicide.

The large public turnout led to heightened security measures and local traffic disruptions throughout the morning. A senior police official stated that security arrangements had been put in place starting from 7:00 AM.

Traffic movement along Swatantryaveer Sawarkar Road was disrupted from 8:00 AM onwards, as the centre stage for the addressing leaders was installed directly on the road.
