Pune Broker Rescued After Falling 200 Feet in Tamhini Ghat

A 47-year-old real estate broker was rescued after accidentally falling 200 feet down a valley in the Tamhini ghat stretch under Mangaon taluka, Raigad. The incident occurred around 2:00 AM on Friday, when the victim, Sandesh Hadvale, stepped out of his vehicle to attend nature’s call.

Hadvale, a resident of Mulshi, was returning to Pune from Chiplun in Ratnagiri along with his driver when the accident happened. Due to the darkness, Hadvale allegedly crossed the gap between the roadside safety walls, lost his balance, and fell into the deep valley. He sustained massive fractures in his right leg alongside other injuries.

Following the fall, Hadvale's driver alerted the local authorities. The Mangaon police arrived at the scene at 3:00 AM to initiate rescue efforts.

A team of ten members from two separate rescue groups was mobilized to pull the broker out of the valley. This included the Sahyadri Vanyajeev Rakshanarth Samajik Sanstha from Kolad, led by Sagar Dahimbekar, alongside the Vira Patnus team.

The rescue operation in the pitch dark proved to be highly challenging. According to Constable Yuvraj Dahiphale, the adventure sports rope brought by the Vira Patnus team fell short of reaching the victim. Consequently, the second rescue team had to be pressed into action.

Working together, both rescue teams and the police successfully pulled Hadvale out of the valley by 5:30 AM. Sagar Dahimbekar noted that conducting the operation under total darkness made it a very tough task.

The local police suspect that Hadvale may have been under the influence of alcohol during the incident.

An ambulance was present at the site, but Hadvale chose to travel to a hospital in Pune in his own car instead, citing pre-existing ligament issues. He is currently undergoing medical treatment there.
