Pune Real Estate Broker Rescued After Falling 200 Feet Into Tamhini Ghat Valley

A 47-year-old real estate broker from Pune was rescued on Friday morning after he accidentally slipped and fell 200 feet into a valley at the Tamhini ghat stretch in Mangaon taluka, Raigad.
The incident occurred around 2:00 AM when the victim stepped out of his car. The victim, identified as Sandesh Hadvale, a resident of Mulshi, was returning to Pune from Chiplun in Ratnagiri with his driver.
According to local police, Hadvale got down from his vehicle to attend to nature's call. Due to the darkness, he allegedly crossed the gap between the roadside safety walls, lost his balance, and fell into the deep valley.
Hadvale sustained massive fractures in his right leg along with several other injuries during the fall. Following the accident, his driver immediately alerted the local authorities. The Mangaon police reached the spot at 3:00 AM and initiated a rescue operation.
Ten members from two specialized rescue teams joined the police to pull Hadvale out of the valley. One of the teams involved was the Sahyadri Vanyajeev Rakshanarth Samajik Sanstha from Kolad, led by Sagar Dahimbekar.
Police Constable Yuvraj Dahiphale noted that the initial rescue attempt faced difficulties when the adventure sports rope brought by the Vira Patnus rescue team proved too short to reach the victim. A second rescue team was then brought in to assist.
Working together in the dark, the two rescue teams and the police successfully pulled Hadvale out of the valley by 5:30 AM. Dahimbekar described the operation conducted under darkness as highly challenging.
Local police suspect that Hadvale may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Although an ambulance was stationed at the scene, Hadvale chose to travel to the hospital in his own car, citing pre-existing ligament issues. He was rushed to a hospital in Pune, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
