Rare Dental Tumour Mistaken for Sinusitis Removed from Mumbai Banker

Doctors at a hospital in Mumbai have successfully removed a rare dental tumour from a 33-year-old banker after the growth was misdiagnosed as chronic sinusitis for years.

The patient, Nirmal Kotal, had been living with constant nasal blockage, facial pain, frequent cold-like symptoms, and recurring sinus infections. Despite repeated medical intervention, his condition failed to improve, with doctors initially treating his symptoms as a case of stubborn sinusitis.

Over the course of his prolonged ailment, Kotal made multiple visits to dentists and underwent several courses of antibiotics and nasal sprays. None of the treatments provided relief, as a rare tooth tumour was impersonating the symptoms of chronic sinus issues.

Medical specialists ultimately performed a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure—a keyhole surgery—to remove the tumour, bringing relief to the patient after years of recurring problems.

Following the successful procedure, Kotal remarked that he had never imagined a tooth tumour was responsible for his long-standing health issues.
