Rhiya Yadav Records Statement At MIDC Police Station Over Cyberbullying

Model Rhiya Yadav on Monday visited the MIDC police station in Mumbai to record her statement regarding alleged cyberbullying, sustained online harassment, and defamation following an incident at Shivaji Park on July 22.

The 27-year-old model spent the entire day at the MIDC police station accompanied by her father. During the visit, police officers recorded her statement and completed procedural formalities, which included collating digital evidence such as screen recordings.

The statement follows an online complaint submitted by Yadav on Saturday with the Maharashtra Police cyber cell. In her complaint, she sought the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) over an alleged online campaign targeting her with abuse, bullying, and harassment, stating that she did not want her parents to be affected by the situation.

Yadav gained widespread attention on social media after halting a police van carrying young protesters at Shivaji Park on July 22. Her intervention led police to release the detained youths, saving them from potential legal wrangles. While many online users praised her actions, Yadav claimed she subsequently received numerous hateful and threatening comments and messages.

According to her complaint, several social media creators falsely accused her of earning lakhs of rupees by selling pornographic content through her Instagram account, @rhiyaahir. She stated that certain content creators with substantial followings uploaded videos containing blurred photographs of her wearing a bikini, claiming to have accessed exclusive pornographic content.

Yadav maintained that her bank account was not linked to Instagram's exclusive subscription feature and that she had not earned any money from the platform. She added that she made the content on her subscription channel public so people could verify the material for themselves.

An officer from the MIDC police station confirmed that police have recorded her statement and are investigating the matter before registering an FIR. Yadav stated that the officers were cooperative and responsive, assuring her that appropriate action would be taken.
