Satara Man Booked for Cheating in High Court Recruitment Exam in Dadar
The Matunga police have registered an FIR against a 29-year-old candidate for allegedly cheating during the Bombay High Court Associate recruitment examination conducted at Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya in Dadar East, Mumbai. The candidate was reportedly found with 12 handwritten slips inside the examination hall on Sunday morning.
The accused has been identified as Sachin Sanjay Pawar, a resident of ITI Road in Satara. According to police records, Pawar was appearing for the written test in Hall No. 316 when exam officials noticed him copying from unauthorized materials.
The examination was held on September 6, 2026, between 11 am and 2 pm. The complainant in the case, 59-year-old E.B. Shivkumar, serves as an Additional Registrar (O.S.) with the Bombay High Court. Shivkumar had been officially deputed by the Secretary, Recruitment Examination, to oversee the exam centre at Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya.
According to the police, the incident occurred at around 11:30 am during the examination session. Exam supervisor Pandhari Tulshiram Gote, an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) attached to the Bombay High Court Registrar's Office, observed Pawar allegedly copying in the hall. Gote promptly submitted a formal written report regarding the malpractice to Chief Conductor A.B. Sharma, who serves as Registrar Inspection-01.
Authorities seized 12 slips containing handwritten notes in English related to the examination subjects from Pawar's possession. Following the discovery, Chief Conductor Sharma issued written directions instructing Shivkumar to file an official police complaint against the candidate.
Based on Shivkumar's complaint, the Matunga police registered a case against Pawar on September 7, 2026. The FIR includes charges under Section 7 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices at University, Board and Other Specified Examinations Act, along with Section 318(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police officials confirmed that the seized slips have been taken into custody as evidence, and further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
