Thane District Bans Entry To Forts And Waterfalls Amid Heavy Rain Alert

The Thane district administration has banned public entry to all tourist destinations across Thane district, including forts, waterfalls, lakes, dams, and rivers. Thane District Collector Dr Shrikrishna Panchal issued the prohibitory order on Monday under the Disaster Management Act.

The administrative order was implemented to prevent accidents during the monsoon season. It restricts public access to all natural spots and water bodies throughout the district until further notice.

The safety measure comes amid severe weather warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast at several places in the region. Extremely heavy showers are also expected to hit isolated locations.

Along with the heavy downpours, the weather agency has warned of strong winds. Winds reaching speeds of 70 to 80 kmph are expected across the district, creating hazardous conditions near water bodies and elevated areas like forts.

By enforcing this ban under the Disaster Management Act, the Thane district administration aims to ensure public safety during the period of intense weather. Tourists and local residents are prohibited from visiting these sites until the weather conditions improve and the order is officially lifted.
