Thane MACT Awards Rs 51.65 Lakh to Family of Teacher Killed in 2017 Crash

The Thane Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) has awarded Rs 51.65 lakh in compensation to the family of a 53-year-old schoolteacher who was killed in a road accident on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway in Palghar district.
The tribunal order was passed on July 17 by Thane MACT member A.R. Rahane. A copy of the ruling subsequently became available on Sunday.
The crash occurred in 2017 along the highway section in Palghar district, resulting in the fatal injuries of the 53-year-old educator.
During the tribunal proceedings, the insurance company contested the claim, arguing that the accident occurred due to contributory negligence on the part of the victim's husband.
MACT member A.R. Rahane rejected the insurance company's assertion of contributory negligence, ordering the compensation payment of Rs 51.65 lakh to be provided to the victim's family.
