A tree crashed into the Meena tai Thackeray Flower Market in Dadar on Saturday, causing financial losses to local traders amid a series of tree falls triggered by relentless rain across Mumbai. The incident was part of a wider pattern of disruptions that damaged property, crushed vehicles, and affected traffic throughout the city.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recorded a massive surge in tree collapses over the weekend. In the 24 hours ending at 8 am, the BMC registered 91 incidents of tree and branch falls. Throughout the rest of the day on Saturday, another 103 tree fall incidents were reported across Mumbai.

Among the major incidents in the region, a massive tree at Maheshwari Udyan in Matunga toppled onto several parked vehicles, causing extensive damage.

Further away in Ghatkopar (East), another major collapse occurred around 11 pm on Saturday at the Vikrant Circle Junction. A massive tree crashed onto parked vehicles, crushing and extensively damaging at least four cars. No injuries or casualties were reported from the Ghatkopar incident.

Following the collapse at Vikrant Circle Junction, teams from the BMC, Mumbai Fire Brigade, and Mumbai Police rushed to the spot to launch clearance operations. According to the 'N' Ward Control Room, garden department staff reached the site immediately. A JCB and senior civic officials were deployed to remove the fallen tree and restore normalcy to the area.

The incident in Ghatkopar occurred in the civic ward represented by Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde. Tawde was elected as a corporator from this area before she assumed the mayoral office.
