Wadala Police Arrest Man in Rs 69,000 Burglary After CCTV Shows Crooked Finger

The Wadala police have arrested a 33-year-old history-sheeter after identifying a distinct physical feature—a crooked finger spotted in CCTV footage—which led officers to the suspect in a grocery shop burglary in Wadala earlier this month.

The accused has been identified as Ashfaq Aslam Sayyed, a resident of PMGP Colony in Mankhurd. Police arrested Sayyed on the evening of July 24 after investigators zeroed in on him through a combination of CCTV footage analysis, technical surveillance, and local intelligence.

According to police, the suspect broke into a grocery shop earlier in the month and allegedly stole cigarette cartons worth Rs 69,000. During the investigation, officers reviewed surveillance footage from the location and noticed the distinct crooked finger on the suspect's hand, which provided a key breakthrough in identifying him.

Following Sayyed's arrest, the Wadala police also seized a Mahindra Scorpio car allegedly used during the burglary. Police officials confirmed that efforts are currently underway to recover the stolen cigarette cartons and remaining property.
