Western Railway Shuts 39 Catering Stalls Across Mumbai Stations Over Hygiene

Western Railway's Mumbai Central Division has shut down 39 catering outlets across railway stations after detecting hygiene and operational violations during a dedicated inspection drive.

The action was taken as part of an intensive cleanliness and hygiene campaign launched on August 15, according to an official statement issued by railway authorities.

The inspections were conducted to evaluate food safety, sanitation levels, and overall compliance with established operational standards at stations and platform stalls across the division.

The crackdown follows a recent review by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) chief, who assessed food quality and hygiene conditions at railway catering facilities in Mumbai a week prior to the enforcement drive.

Authorities initiated the checks across platforms to ensure that catering units strictly adhere to prescribed food handling, cleanliness, and safety regulations for railway passengers.
