Zeeshan Siddique Receives Death Threat from Portugal Number, Files Bandra Police Complaint

Nationalist Congress Party leader and former MLA Zeeshan Siddique has lodged a complaint with the Bandra police in Mumbai after allegedly receiving a death threat via a voice note sent from a Portugal-based telephone number. The caller claimed to be associated with the Rohit Godara gang.

Siddique received the threatening audio message on his mobile phone while he was travelling abroad. Following his return to Mumbai, the former legislator visited the Bandra police station to formally report the matter and submit his complaint regarding the threat.

In the recorded message, the caller identified himself as Zeeshan Akhtar and stated that he was affiliated with the Rohit Godara gang. The caller issued a direct threat to kill Siddique and claimed that he had instructed a fellow gang associate to eliminate Siddique's father, former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, two years before the murder actually occurred.

Baba Siddique was shot dead in Bandra in October 2024. Members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang have been accused in connection with the murder. Zeeshan Akhtar, who has been named as an accused in that case, has been absconding from law enforcement authorities.

According to the complaint, the caller told Siddique that the threat was not related to extortion or financial demands. The caller stated that he had no issue with Siddique's wealth, but claimed he was acting in objection to an alleged "illegal business."

The incident follows a similar threat received by the family recently. Days prior to this communication, Siddique's sister, Arshia Siddique, also allegedly received a death threat. Bandra police are examining the details provided in the complaint.
