323 Sanitation Workers Face Uncertainty After CIDCO Hands Over 14 Navi Mumbai Stations

The formal handover of 14 railway stations across Navi Mumbai from the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) to Central Railway has sparked job security concerns among 323 sanitation workers.

Central Railway formally assumed administrative control of the 14 suburban stations on August 14. The transition affects stations across the node, including Vashi, Sanpada, Juinagar, Nerul, Seawoods-Darave-Karave, Belapur, Airoli, Rabale, Ghansoli, Kopar Khairane, Turbhe, Khandeshwar, Mansarovar, and Kharghar.

The administrative change has left 323 sanitation workers anxious about their continued employment. Many of these workers have been engaged in cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance across these specific stations for nearly 25 years.

Amid mounting concerns from the workforce regarding their livelihoods, former Member of Parliament Sanjeev Naik met with CIDCO Managing Director Ashwin Mudgal on Monday to discuss the issue.

With Central Railway now holding full operational and administrative responsibility for the 14 stations, the future terms of deployment and tenure for the existing sanitation staff remain a critical issue following the transfer.
