Anushka Sharma Faces Criticism From The Liver Doc Over Homeopathy Endorsement

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has sparked a public debate in Mumbai and across India after endorsing homeopathy, prompting a critical response from medical influencer Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, who is known online as 'The Liver Doc'. The online exchange, which occurred on June 3, 2026, began after Sharma credited the alternative medicine system for playing a major role in her personal health journey.
The controversy arose when Sharma shared a video on social media featuring a conversation between renowned homeopathic physician Dr. Rajan Sankaran and entrepreneur Namita Thapar. Alongside the video, the actress praised Sankaran's approach to health and wellness, highlighting his influence on her lifestyle.
"Homeopathy played an important role in my life and Dr Rajan Sankaran has been a key part of that journey. I deeply value his insights on health and mindful living," Sharma wrote in her social media post.
In the shared video, the discussion focused on the position of homeopathy within modern healthcare. Sankaran advocated for an integrated medical approach, suggesting that different medical systems should collaborate rather than compete with one another. He also acknowledged that no medical system is entirely free of limitations.
"Homeopathy doesn't treat conditions, it treats people. By treating people it heals them," Sankaran stated during the discussion. He argued that healing the human also addresses their underlying pathology.
The actress's endorsement drew immediate criticism from Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips. The medical influencer publicly labeled Sharma's promotion of the alternative practice as a "triangle of shame."
The incident has reignited public discussions and controversy surrounding the scientific validity of homeopathy. While supporters of the alternative system have backed Sharma's stance, critics continue to question its scientific basis, fueling an ongoing debate over the promotion of homeopathy versus evidence-based medicine.
