Cidco Demolishes Rs 2.3 Crore PCMC Public Toilet Near Utsav Chowk In Kharghar

An under-construction public toilet valued at Rs 2.3 crore was demolished by Cidco near Utsav Chowk in the Kharghar locality of Navi Mumbai on Tuesday.
The demolition was carried out because the Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) allegedly encroached upon Cidco land to construct the utility. According to reports, the PCMC allegedly did not obtain a no-objection certificate from Cidco before starting the project. Despite this, construction had progressed, and most of the structural work of the toilet had already been completed.
The project was initiated after a former corporator demanded the construction of the public toilet. The PCMC approved the demand and construction began, allegedly without checking the ownership of the land.
Following the demolition on Tuesday, a corporator demanded action against those responsible for the wasteful expenditure of the civic body's funds.
