CM Devendra Fadnavis Inspects Vadhavan Port and Boisar Bullet Train Station Progress
On Sunday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited and inspected the progress of the Vadhavan Port project and the under-construction bullet train station in Boisar. Located on the northern coast of Maharashtra's Palghar district, the Vadhavan Port is being developed as a world-class maritime gateway designed to handle some of the world's largest container vessels.
During his visit to the site, Chief Minister Fadnavis announced that actual construction has commenced following the resolution of all regulatory issues. Speaking to reporters, he described the port as one of India's largest infrastructure projects being undertaken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Fadnavis addressed ongoing land acquisition matters, stating that the government will address these issues in consultation with the local community. He also highlighted that special provisions are being planned specifically for the local fishing community.
The mega-infrastructure project is expected to generate approximately one million employment opportunities. The state government intends to connect local youth to these job opportunities through specialized skill development initiatives.
"I am very happy to be here to inspect the progress of the Vadhavan Port, which is being constructed as the country's largest port under the leadership of the Prime Minister," Fadnavis said during his visit. "All regulatory issues have been resolved, and actual construction has commenced."
Prior to inspecting the port, the Chief Minister stopped in Boisar to review the progress of the bullet train station currently under construction. He expressed satisfaction with the development, noting that the work there is progressing excellently.
The project recently cleared a major legal hurdle when the Bombay High Court approved the removal of mangrove patches located within the approach area of the near-shore reclamation zone. According to a spokesperson for the project's implementing authority, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), this approval is expected to accelerate the execution of several components of India's largest maritime project.
Once completed, the Vadhavan Port is expected to play a strategic role in boosting India's trade capacity, improving logistics efficiency, and strengthening the country's position in global shipping networks.
