Forensic Test Confirms Zeeshan Akhtar's Voice in Threats to MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui

The Mumbai Crime Branch has confirmed through forensic analysis that voice messages threatening NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui belong to wanted accused Zeeshan Akhtar, an alleged mastermind in the Baba Siddique murder case.

Investigators with the Crime Branch examined the threatening audio messages received on Siddiqui’s mobile phone and compared the voice with archival recordings of Akhtar provided by the Punjab Police. The forensic analysis confirmed a direct match between the voice in the threat clips and the absconding suspect.

Following the confirmation, the Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of the Mumbai Crime Branch took over the probe. Investigators stated that Akhtar allegedly issued two separate audio threats against Siddiqui within a span of a week.

The first threat was circulated through unidentified sources and social media channels, while the second clip was delivered directly to Siddiqui’s personal mobile number. The direct transmission to his private contact raised serious concerns among investigators, confirming that the absconding suspect had obtained Siddiqui's personal contact details. Security around the Siddiqui family has been tightened in response to the threats.

Akhtar, a native of Punjab, is considered one of the key conspirators in the murder of Baba Siddique. He allegedly played a central role in arranging weapons, financial assistance, and logistical support for the shooters. According to investigating agencies, Akhtar was previously associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang before aligning with the Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara networks following an internal split.

Police suspect that Akhtar is currently hiding in Pakistan or another neighbouring country, running extortion operations and issuing threats in India using international virtual numbers. The Anti-Extortion Cell is investigating who is providing local logistical and technical support to the suspect in Mumbai.
