Heavy Rain Disrupts Thane with 93 Emergency Incidents Including Landslide

Continuous heavy rainfall over a 48-hour period leading up to July 5, 2026, disrupted normal life across Thane district, Maharashtra. The intense monsoon showers resulted in widespread flooding, multiple tree falls, and structural damage throughout the region.
According to officials from the Thane Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), the local administration received a total of 93 rain-related complaints within a single 24-hour period. This high volume of emergency calls highlighted the severe impact of the weather on local residents and the district's infrastructure.
The breakdown of the complaints registered by the RDMC details the extent of the damage. Authorities recorded 24 incidents of tree falls alongside 22 reports of fallen branches, which caused blockages on various roads and disrupted transit across the district.
In addition to the falling trees, waterlogging posed a significant challenge to daily life. The disaster management cell registered 24 distinct flooding complaints from affected areas, as continuous downpours overwhelmed local drainage systems and flooded streets.
The heavy rains also led to structural failures in the district. The RDMC reported eight incidents of compound wall collapses. Additionally, one landslide incident was officially registered by the authorities, adding to the safety concerns of the local population during the severe weather event.
Local residents and disaster management teams have been dealing with the aftermath of these incidents as they work to restore normalcy across Thane district following the disruptions.
