Madhoo Shah Recalls Slapping Nana Patekar Back On Yeshwant Movie Set

Veteran actress Madhoo Shah has publicly recalled an incident from the Mumbai film sets of the 1997 movie Yeshwant, revealing that her co-star Nana Patekar slapped her for real during an emotional scene, prompting her to hit him back in anger.
Speaking in a recent interview, the actress shared details about working with Patekar and how the physical altercation on the set became an unexpected lesson that changed her approach to acting.
According to Madhoo, Patekar was deeply committed to authenticity on the set of Yeshwant. She explained that he discouraged his co-stars from relying on traditional cinematic shortcuts, such as using glycerine to fake tears during highly emotional sequences.

During the filming of a crucial scene, Madhoo was struggling to cry naturally. To trigger a genuine emotional response, Patekar surprised her during the take by slapping her for real without any prior warning.
Madhoo reacted with immediate anger to the unexpected physical strike and retaliated by hitting Patekar back. She stated that she got really angry during the moment, which prompted her swift reaction.
Despite the sudden physical exchange, Madhoo noted that the experience ultimately influenced her craft, stating that she became a method actor while working alongside Patekar.
