Maharashtra to Observe Water Conservation Day on August 21

Maharashtra will observe Water Conservation Day on August 21 as part of a major initiative to protect soil and water resources across the state. Soil and Water Conservation Minister Sanjay Rathod announced the plans during a virtual meeting, directing all government departments and local authorities to work together to promote public awareness.

The state has organized a week-long awareness programme that will run from August 15 to August 21. In addition to the week's events, Maharashtra will launch an extended statewide water conservation campaign spanning from August 15, 2026, through January 26, 2027.

During the virtual meeting held to outline the programmes planned for Water Conservation Day and Water Conservation Week, Minister Rathod issued clear instructions to administrative bodies. He called for unified action among government departments and civic authorities to emphasize the vital importance of preserving soil and water resources.

According to an official statement released on Tuesday, the comprehensive drive will involve state departments and local authorities in coordinated outreach efforts across Maharashtra, alongside activities linked to the Maha Walkathon.
