Mayor Ritu Tawde Seeks Permanent Jobs for Protesting NUHM Workers at Azad Maidan

Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde visited Azad Maidan on Monday to meet with protesting outsourced health workers and directed the civic administration to expedite action on their pending demands. Addressing more than 1,700 workers employed under the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), Tawde proposed a one-time policy to absorb eligible staff with 10 years of government service into regular or permanent employment.
Tawde arrived at the protest site at Azad Maidan to interact directly with the health workers and hear their concerns. The outsourced personnel have been staging demonstrations to press for the resolution of their long-pending grievances.
During her interaction with the protesters, the Mayor assured them that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) remains committed to addressing their legitimate demands. She recommended introducing a specific policy measure to grant permanent status to workers who have completed a decade of service under the government.
Tawde stated that she would pursue the matter further with both the civic administration and the state government to ensure that the grievances of the protesting health workers are resolved promptly.
