Mumbai FDA Suspends Shivaji Park's Cafe Cadell Licence Over Hygiene Lapses

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Mumbai has suspended the FSSAI licence of Cafe Cadell, a popular eatery located in Shivaji Park, following the discovery of several food safety and hygiene violations.

The regulatory action came after officials carried out an inspection at the establishment on August 20, where they uncovered multiple serious operational lapses.

According to the FDA, the Shivaji Park cafe lacked adequate ventilation and had inadequate personal hygiene facilities. The eatery also failed to provide records confirming the testing of drinking water utilised for food preparation.

Inspectors further discovered that the establishment did not have proper insect-proof screens installed. In addition, the inspection team flagged poor staff hygiene, inadequate segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items, and major lapses in overall cleaning and sanitisation across the premises.
