Mumbai Lake Water Levels Reach 49.93 Percent Capacity At Bhandup Complex

The collective water stock in Mumbai's seven supply lakes reached 49.93 percent of their live storage capacity on July 13, 2026, despite a dry 24-hour period. According to the report recorded at 6:00 AM by the Hydraulic Engineer’s Department at the Master Control Centre in the Bhandup Complex, the city's reservoirs have accumulated a significant volume of water.

The total useful water stock in the seven reservoirs currently stands at 7,22,649 million litres (ML). This volume represents a substantial increase compared to the storage levels recorded during the same period in 2024, when the stock was at just 25 percent capacity with 3,61,826 ML.

However, the current 2026 water stock remains lower than the levels recorded during the corresponding period in 2025. Last year, the lakes held 10,87,865 ML of water, which accounted for 75.16 percent of their total live capacity.

Among the supplying bodies, Tulsi Lake is currently near its full capacity, standing at 99.25 percent. The lake had previously started overflowing on July 7, 2026, at 11:43 PM.

The measurements, compiled by the Hydraulic Engineer’s Department from the Bhandup Complex, provide a crucial update on the city's water security. While the 24-hour period leading up to the report was dry, the overall accumulation has reached nearly half of the total live storage capacity required for the city.
