Mumbai Police Arrest 6, Including 3 MPSC Staffers, Over Drug Inspector Paper Leak
The Mumbai Police crime branch property cell has arrested six people, including three Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) staffers, in connection with the leak of the March 22 drug inspector screening examination paper.
The three arrested MPSC officials have been identified as Under Secretary Abhijit Lendve and Assistant Cell Officers Vishweshwar Nakate and Gopal Marathe. According to investigators, the three commission officials received financial benefits for their role in leaking the examination material.
The probe also led to the arrest of Lokesh alias Gaurav Rajendra Patil, a resident of Nandurbar. Police stated that Gaurav Patil was in a relationship with a woman identified as Rutuja Patil, who was preparing to appear for the drug inspector exam. Investigators suspect that Gaurav procured questions from the screening test ahead of the March 22 exam and shared them with Rutuja to help her clear it. Rutuja subsequently passed the examination.
The other two persons arrested in the case are Pravin Patil, the director of Kautilya Academy in Nandurbar, and Amrit Patil, who is Rutuja Patil's father.
According to the official complaint registered by Crime Branch Inspector Mangesh Desai, academy director Pravin Patil handed over a photocopy of the leaked question paper to Rutuja's father, Amrit Patil, at Pathardi Phata in Nashik. The handover was facilitated through an individual named Mayur Thackeray, who is currently under police scanner.
The property cell investigation team, led by Inspector Desai, is currently probing how the paper was originally accessed from the system, how the leaked content was circulated among individuals, and whether candidates were required to pay money to obtain the leaked material.
