Mumbai Sees Light Rain and Gusty Winds as IMD Forecasts Overcast Skies

Mumbai woke up to light rain, overcast skies, and gusty winds on Friday morning as monsoon conditions continued across the city and its suburbs. Several areas recorded light to moderate showers overnight, offering some relief from humid weather following rainfall on Thursday.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), no rain alert has been issued for Mumbai for Friday or the upcoming weekend. The weather department has forecast generally cloudy skies accompanied by light to moderate rainfall and occasional thundershowers across the city throughout the day.
While widespread heavy rainfall is not anticipated, isolated parts of the city could witness moderate to heavy showers during intense spells. The IMD warned that gusty winds are expected alongside these showers, with sustained wind speeds between 40 kmph and 50 kmph. Peak gusts may reach 50 kmph to 60 kmph during periods of stronger precipitation.
Temperatures in the city remained warm despite the rainfall. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature recorded on Friday morning stood at 29 degrees Celsius, keeping conditions humid.
The ongoing monsoon activity also helped maintain clean air across the region. Official data showed Mumbai's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 23 on Friday morning, placing it firmly in the 'Good' category. An AQI reading between 0 and 50 reflects minimal health risks for residents.
With no official weather warnings in place, the IMD expects Mumbai to see typical monsoon patterns over the coming days, characterized by intermittent showers, cloudy conditions, and occasional gusty winds.
