Rahul Narwekar Demands Shivaji Slogans in Announcements at Mumbai's CSMT

Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar has written to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urging him to include the slogans “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Ki Jai” and “Jai Bhavani, Jai Shivaji” in official announcements for all trains at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai on August 12.
Narwekar submitted the formal letter during his visit to Delhi, requesting that the two slogans be played alongside routine train updates for every train arriving at or departing from the landmark station.
In his communication to the Railway Minister, Narwekar emphasized that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus is far more than an important historic railway station. He described the terminal as a symbol of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s core ideals, including courage, Swarajya, and patriotism.
Pointing to the footfall at the station, the Assembly Speaker noted that thousands of passengers from across the country travel through the terminus every day. According to Narwekar, this volume of commuters makes the station an effective platform for spreading awareness about the legacy and ideals of Shivaji Maharaj.
Narwekar further explained that playing these slogans would help introduce younger generations to the historic ruler’s administration, bravery, welfare-oriented policies, and commitment to the national interest. He also highlighted Shivaji Maharaj’s role in bringing together people from different sections of society while establishing Swarajya.
The Speaker requested Minister Vaishnaw to consider the proposal positively and issue the necessary directives to the railway administration to incorporate both slogans. Narwekar expressed confidence that the initiative would help carry the message of Shivaji Maharaj’s contributions and the ideals of Swarajya far beyond Maharashtra through the national railway network.
