Ranvir Shorey Criticizes Producers Guild Statement Over Don 3 Controversy

Actor Ranvir Shorey has publicly criticized the Producers Guild's recent statement concerning the ongoing 'Don 3' controversy, accusing producers of canceling film projects without providing any compensation to the cast and crew. The public dispute, which has highlighted deep-seated labor, compensation, and contractual issues within the Bollywood film industry, has drawn significant attention from the creative community in Bandra.
The controversy escalated following a non-cooperation directive issued by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) against actor Ranveer Singh. The directive, which stems from an ongoing dispute surrounding the film 'Don 3', prompted the Producers Guild to issue its own official statement. Shorey strongly reacted to the Guild's stance, arguing that producers frequently halt or cancel projects without offering any financial compensation to the professionals who had committed their time and resources.
In addition to Shorey's criticism, filmmaker Nikhil Dwivedi also questioned the actions taken by the union. Dwivedi raised concerns over the FWICE's decision to issue a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, arguing that such measures unfairly impact an individual's career. "You cannot stop someone's livelihood," Dwivedi stated, questioning the union's authority to halt work.
The ongoing dispute highlights the systemic challenges and friction between various industry bodies, including the Producers Guild and FWICE, regarding project cancellations and unilateral directives. The situation remains a key point of discussion as representatives from the different factions continue to clash over labor rights, contractual agreements, and compensation practices in the Hindi cinema sector.
