Technical Failures at Dadar, Vasai, Goregaon Disrupt Monday Suburban Trains

Technical failures at Dadar, Vasai Road, and Goregaon disrupted Mumbai’s suburban train network during the Monday morning peak-hour rush, impacting services on crucial fast and Harbour line sections and causing widespread inconvenience to commuters heading to work. At Dadar, point failures directly affected operations on key fast line routes during the morning rush.

The disruption at Dadar occurred at 10:10 a.m. when points 143/144 on the Up and Down fast lines failed to operate from reverse to normal position. The issue at Dadar was part of a series of technical breakdowns that struck the suburban rail system throughout Monday morning.

At Vasai Road, point machines 111/112 on the Down and Up fast lines failed earlier at 4:46 a.m. Railway staff were sent to the site to attend to the problem and were required to clamp the points manually. The technical failure at Vasai Road resulted in the detention of Up fast trains.

Shortly after the failure at Dadar, another breakdown occurred at Goregaon. Points 127/128 and 129/130 on the Up and Down Harbour lines at Goregaon failed at around 10:22 a.m. In a separate incident during ongoing MRVC deck work, an A19 DN TH Local Track Maintainer reported heavy sparking on the Down Local Line near Mulund station at 11:53 a.m.

The simultaneous technical failures affected critical stretches of the network at a time when thousands of commuters were traveling to offices and workplaces. Because Monday marks the beginning of the working week, even short disruptions during peak morning hours can lead to heavy crowding on station platforms and create delays across interconnected train services.

Railway officials confirmed that staff were dispatched to attend to all three point failures on priority, with efforts underway to restore normal train operations as quickly as possible. The disruptions highlighted the suburban network's dependence on point machines and signalling infrastructure, where a fault at a major junction can delay trains well beyond the immediate site of the failure.
