Three Booked After Clash Breaks Out in Mumbai's Parel Following Eid Procession

A clash broke out between two groups in Mumbai's Parel area on Wednesday night following an Eid procession, leading police to register a case against three named individuals and several unidentified members of a mob.

Following the incident, additional police personnel were deployed in the neighbourhood as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order. The Bhoiwada police have booked Rehan Masood Sayyad, 19, Adil Khan Ahmed Khan, 19, and Miraj Mohammad Firoz Rais, 18, in connection with the unrest.

Investigators are working to identify other individuals involved in the mob and have launched a manhunt to trace the accused persons. According to officials, the exact trigger behind the confrontation has not yet been established. While various claims and posts have circulated on social media platforms, authorities stated that it would be premature to draw conclusions before the investigation concludes.

Police suspect that the clash was ignited when members of two groups exchanged slogans. The situation subsequently deteriorated into a verbal altercation before turning violent. Reports also emerged indicating that stone pelting took place in the locality, prompting police personnel to use mild force to bring the situation under control.

A case has been registered under Sections 189(1), 189(2), 189(3), 191(1), 191(2), 195(1), 118(1), and 121(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, alongside Sections 133 and 137 of the Maharashtra Police Act. The accused have also been charged with violating prohibitory orders issued by the Mumbai Police Commissioner that restrict unlawful assembly in the city.
