Traffic Curbs in Kharghar on August 23 for Hill Mayor Marathon

Several roads across Kharghar will face traffic restrictions on Sunday, August 23, between 4 am and 11 am as the Panvel Municipal Corporation organises the Kharghar Hill Mayor Marathon. Around 4,500 runners are expected to participate across 3 km, 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km race categories.
To facilitate the event while managing regular vehicular movement, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police will close one side of the roads along the designated marathon routes. The opposite carriageway will be kept open for two-way traffic. Police officials stated that the measures are intended to prevent congestion and accidents while ensuring the uninterrupted movement of emergency and private vehicles.
The vehicular curbs will impact several key stretches in the node, including Central Park-Gurudwara-J Kumar Circle-Owegaon Police Chowki, J Kumar Circle-B.D. Somani Chowk-Vinayak Seth Chowk, Central Park-Gram Vikas Chowk-Utsav Chowk-Belpada-RBI Metro Station, and Gurudwara-Owegaon Chowk-Taloja Jail-Papdichapada.
The race course will also pass through prominent local landmarks and intersections, including the ISKCON Temple, Tawa Hotel, Utsav Chowk, Belpada Metro Station, RBI Metro Station, Phanaswadi Hill, Owegaon, and Taloja Jail.
According to the official traffic notification, vehicles travelling from Central Park towards Gram Vikas Signal, Utsav Chowk, and RBI Metro Station will be allowed to use the available open carriageway as a two-way route during the restriction window.
“Traffic arrangements have been planned to ensure that the marathon is conducted smoothly while minimising inconvenience to motorists. Commuters are requested to plan their journeys in advance, follow the traffic diversions and instructions of traffic personnel, and cooperate with the police,” said Dr Rahul Khade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Navi Mumbai.
Motorists travelling through Kharghar have been advised to avoid the marathon routes where possible and schedule their travel keeping the Sunday morning diversions in mind.
