Two Palghar College Staffers Suspended After Student Allegedly Forced to Perform Namaz

A hostel warden and a teacher have been suspended from a private medical college in the Posheri village of Wada taluka, located in Maharashtra's Palghar district, following allegations that a female student was subjected to ragging and forced to perform namaz.

The incident occurred on Sunday night at the hostel of the private medical institute. According to reports, the female student was allegedly targeted and pressured to perform the religious ritual, which led to immediate complaints.

Following the incident, significant tension built up on the college campus. The allegations drew protests from right-wing groups, prompting the deployment of police personnel to the campus to prevent any further disturbance or security issues.

In response to the complaints, the police registered a First Information Report on Monday night. The college administration subsequently took disciplinary action by suspending two of its staffers, identified as a hostel warden and a teacher, as the investigation into the matter commenced.
