Dimple Hayathi Defends Janhvi Kapoor Amid Criticism Over Peddi Role

Telugu actress Dimple Hayathi has publicly defended colleague Janhvi Kapoor following widespread criticism of Kapoor's role in the film 'Peddi'. Speaking out on Sunday, Hayathi stated that the blame for controversial portrayals of women on screen should lie with the filmmakers and the industry system rather than the actresses themselves.

The controversy emerged after the release of 'Peddi', a film starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. A section of the audience criticized the film's portrayal of Kapoor's character, accusing the project of objectifying women. Viewers specifically pointed to the film's camera work, dialogues, and romantic sequences involving Ram Charan and Kapoor.

Hayathi took to her X handle on Sunday to address the ongoing backlash directly, expressing her support for Kapoor and calling out the industry's practices.

"I'm so glad that today, on this day, we are all speaking about how actresses' roles are being written and the instinctive response to blame the actress for doing what she was offered," Hayathi wrote in her social media post.

She argued that actors have limited control over the scripts they are given and must work within the parameters of the industry to advance their careers.

"Don't blame the actress; blame the system and makers who really think that's what sells," Hayathi added. "We actors, work within the opportunities we get, trying to make it big and hoping to work in bigger films and reach wider audiences."

Hayathi's comments seek to shift the focus of the ongoing controversy's criticism away from the lead actress and toward the production's creators and the entertainment industry system that shapes how women are written and presented on screen.
