Maharashtra Plans Rs 250-Crore Traffic System To Curb Accidents, Says Pratap Sarnaik

Maharashtra will introduce a modern traffic management system with a state government allocation of Rs 250 crore to reduce road accidents and fatalities, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced in Thane on Monday.

Sarnaik made the announcement while speaking at the launch of the 'Traffic School on Wheels' initiative, organized by the Thane Traffic Police. The proposed modern setup will be based on traffic management models currently utilized in other countries.

The project is expected to be rolled out during the 2026-27 period as part of stepped-up government measures to enhance road safety and curb fatal collisions across the state.
