Mumbai Auto and Taxi Fares to Rise from September 1 After MMRTA Approval

Commuters across Mumbai and the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region will face higher fares for autorickshaws and black-and-yellow taxis starting from September 1, following an official fare hike approved by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA).

The transport authority cleared the fare revision on Thursday, August 20, adjusting the base rates for both key modes of public transport across the region.

Under the newly approved fare structure, the minimum fare for an autorickshaw ride will increase to Rs 27 from the existing Rs 26.

Fares for traditional black-and-yellow taxis are also set to rise. The minimum ride fare for black-and-yellow taxis will go up to Rs 33 from the previous rate of Rs 31.

The revised fares will officially take effect for all commuters throughout the Mumbai Metropolitan Region from September 1.
