Ugandan Businessman Assaulted Outside Khar Pub, Police Book Seven

A businessman from Uganda was allegedly assaulted by a woman and a group of men outside the Raasta Bombay pub in Khar in the early hours of Sunday. Khar police have registered a case against seven unidentified individuals in connection with the incident.

According to police, Prince Louis Mushabe, a Ugandan national who frequently travels to India for business, was visiting the pub on Fifth Road in Khar. Around 1:00 am on Sunday, Mushabe's elbow accidentally brushed against an unknown woman while a man was attempting to shake hands with him. The contact triggered an argument, and the woman along with her male companion allegedly slapped Mushabe.

Pub bouncers intervened and separated the parties, after which Mushabe booked a cab to depart. However, as he was leaving the venue, the woman confronted him again, made an obscene gesture, and hurled abuses. When Mushabe questioned her behaviour, her male friend aggressively grabbed Mushabe by his collar, tore his shirt, and pinned him to the ground. The man, along with seven to eight other people at the scene, proceeded to assault him.

A pub bouncer stepped in to rescue Mushabe and accompanied him in a taxi directly to the Khar police station. Mushabe was subsequently taken to Bhabha Hospital for medical examination. While doctors noted no visible injuries, Mushabe reported hearing difficulties in his left ear and was advised to undergo formal auditory testing.

Based on the complaint filed by Mushabe, the Khar police registered a case against seven unknown individuals under sections 126 (wrongful restraint), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 324 (mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
